Intersticia

Intersticia was formed in 1996, originally as a farming company operating a mixed cotton and cattle property in northern New South Wales.

During the next ten years it morphed to become a consulting business which: organised conferences for government agencies; consulted in new media in the Web 1.0 phase; ran associations; provided political and policy advice to State and Federal Government; participated in Government Boards and Advisory Committees; and created leadership programmes.

Now it is bringing all of this together to service the needs of people, groups and teams within organisations as they face the challenges of the information society.

Anni Rowland-Campbell - Director
BA (Melbourne), MA (Courtauld Institute, London), Grad. Certificate of Public Policy (UNE), MBT (UNSW), Masters of HRM and Coaching Psychology (Sydney), PhD Candidate (Deakin)

Anni has a varied background which includes many years working at the Sydney Opera House, the National Theatre of Great Britain, the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, the Julian Ashton Art School, and the Australian Opera.  She has been Policy Advisory to the NSW Minister for the Arts, Council Member of the Australian War Memorial, Member of the NSW Arts Advisory Council and of the NSW Museums Council.  Anni worked with both the Moree Gallery Foundation and Yurundiali Aboriginal Arts Co-Operative in northern NSW and following this was Executive Director of the NSW Division of the Institute of Public Administration.

For almost a decade Anni was Executive Director of GAMAA , the association for suppliers to the graphic arts and related industries, during which time she undertook research into the changing dynamics of the communications industries, founded a Leadership Programme, and developed an international industry network.

From there Anni went to work with Fuji Xerox Australia, and, since 2006 has been leading the company's ARC funded research into emerging web technologies, leveraging her existing contacts as well as developing new networks with research organisations globally.

Anni's work has always involved bringing new ideas to teams and organisations in order to help them see things differently, and to utilise emerging technologies in order to enhance communications, knowledge and information management.

One of Anni's key drivers is on-going learning and the desire to continually challenge the status quo in order to find new solutions to ongoing problems. This often happens through conversations, and much of Anni's work has been around facilitating those conversations both through education and events.

An integral part of this is her own learning and Anni is currently undertaking her PhD under the supervision of Professor Ross Chapman and Associate Professor Angelina Russo at the Deakin University School of Business.  This research explores the emerging concept of the "digital brand" as a manifestation of identity within both the online and real world environments, in particular focusing on the relationship between governance and trust.

This work emanates from observing the practical challenges that people, groups and organisations face as they continually learn and change within the digital ecosystem.  Some previous projects, such as the Australian Gov 2.0 Task Force, various "open" government forums and the work of the IMM , have enabled Anni to bring together research and practical application with the intent of producing useful outcomes and models.  Her particular passion is the emerging focus on "open government" and the changing concept of democracy.
